Dr. Red Puke

This video pokes fun at noted trauma surgeon and all-around great guy, Dr. Red Duke. Dr. Duke used to appear on TV a lot doing medical reports from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. His no nonsense delivery and Texas charm made him very popular. Note the wads of 2" video tape that appear in the clip. At that time the station bought hundreds of yards of it, airing all our commercials, promos, and news opens on 2" tape cartridges played in a creaky old Ampex ACR 25. This machine was the bane of all the Master Control Operators because it broke down about 3 times a week. This relic provided the engineers with plenty to do and built in job security. Who knows, it may still be in use.
